SISTERS of a Rednal nurse tragically killed are to host a fundraising charity ball in her memory.

Amy Shimell's sisters, Lucy Somner and Emily Byfield, are holding a charity ball to raise funds for nursery nurse Amy's former workplace, Birmingham Women's Hospital.

The 'Flamingo Fling' ball will take place on Saturday, July 20, at Manor Hill House, Upton Warren.

Tickets cost £50, covering reception drinks and a three-course meal. They can be bought at buytickets.at/flamingofling

A charity raffle and auction will also be held and businesses are being urged to donate prizes - email lucyshimell@hotmail.com or call her on 07929 408603 to help.

The sisters said: "Our sister Amy fulfilled her vocation at Birmingham Women's Hospital as a neonatal nursery nurse.

"We tragically lost our beautiful Amy in September 2017, but we are trying to keep her passion for patient care alive by raising money for this vital cause.

"One of the causes that we intend to raise funds for with the ball is the charity’s new ‘Woodland House Appeal’.

"It's a special centre where families facing the loss of a baby can spend some quiet time away from the main hospital."
