A LYE man has been jailed for stealing perfume, gin and washing detergent.

Jason Hogan, aged 37, of Grange Lane, Lye, pleaded guilty at Dudley Magistrate's Courts to stealing three Dolce and Gabbana gift sets worth £119.97, along with £175 worth of gin from Marks and Spencer in Merry Hill and washing detergent worth £70. He was jailed for four weeks due to prolific offending and showing a disregard for court orders.

The following cases were also heard at Dudley Magistrate's Court last week.

Zoey Dingley, aged 23, of Woodland Avenue, Quarry Bank, pleaded guilty to stealing a fence panel of an unknown value; trespassing a shed and stealing a lawnmower and pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to harassment. She received a community order and was ordered to pay £100 compensation and £185 in costs.

Ruslams Marduhajevs, aged 36, of Birmingham Road, Oldbury, pleaded guilty to assault and assaulting a police officer acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker, by beating him. He received a community order and was ordered to pay compensation and costs totalling £785.

Michael Dandy, aged 35, of Foxdale Drive, Brierley Hill, pleaded guilty to failing to have a breathalyser test without a reasonable excuse to do so. He received a community order and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 24 months and must pay a surcharge and costs totalling £220.

Daniel James, aged 21, of Cradley Park Road, Netherton, pleaded guilty to driving over the alcohol limit; driving without insurance and driving without a licence. He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and was ordered to pay a £350 fine, £35 surcharge and £135 costs.

Thomas Leigh, aged 39, of High Street, Brierley Hill, pleaded guilty to driving over the alcohol limit and possessing cannabis. He was ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £220 and received a community order. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 30 months.

Richard Clarke, aged 44, of Hagley Road, Bearwood, pleaded guilty to assault by beating in Lye. He received a community order along with a £100 fine, £85 surcharge and £500 costs.
