HOLY Trinity School and Sixth Form Centre in Kidderminster is celebrating after being awarded £10,000 in National Lottery funding for its swimming pool Project Sunshine.

The school’s heated indoor swimming pool requires upgrading to its physical structure, which is a year-round facility that not only supports students learning to swim, with many progressing on to compete at county and national level, but is also a much-used facility by local swimming clubs, community groups and organisations.

Teacher, Mrs Paula Crocker, commented: “We are thrilled to have secured a grant of £10,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund which will help towards the purchase of much needed new windows and fire doors for the school’s swimming pool.”

Mrs Crocker added: “We can’t thank the National Lottery Community Fund enough for their help and support towards the total renovation costs, which will now be added to by students who will help fundraise starting by taking part in a two-week sponsored swim as part of their regular swimming lessons.”

The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK. The school’s funding will now ensure that the pool will remain an essential part of the school’s extended PE curriculum and available for use by the local community.
