POLICE officers have been injured after a stolen van failed to stop driving towards them.

On the morning of May 18, police attempted to stop a suspected stolen Luton style van in Salwarpe Road in Droitwich after it had originally been seen on the M5 South.

The van, which had foreign number plates, had been reported stolen from the Coleshill area on Friday, May 16.

Police attempted to stop the van however it failed to stop and after a short pursuit drove at three police vehicles causing extensive damage to the vehicles.

Five police officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

A man has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis.

Ifran Mohammed, 30, of Coleshill Road, Birmingham, is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Monday 20 May).

The incident took place around 9am on Saturday morning.
