COTSWOLD residents are invited to the unique Women in Aviation exhibition.

The exhibition is being held at the Jet Age Museum and highlights the achievements made by women in all aspects of the aviation industry and armed forces.

The exhibition will be available to view at the Staverton museum this weekend, May 18 and 19, as well as the weekend of May 25 and 26.

It encourages young women to pursue careers in aviation, inspired by women who have played vital roles.

A focus is on Amy Johnson’s record breaking, terrifying solo flight from the UK to Australia in 1930. Amy lived in Stoke Orchard near Tewkesbury.

An 18 foot timeline shows significant aviation events from 1903 to today’s astronauts. An extensive static exhibition illustrates women’s achievements in the armed forces and civilian life – both full of surprises.

The highlight this weekend is the Innsworth Military Wives Choir who will be performing in the museum on Saturday, May 18 at 11am and 1.45pm.

On Sunday it will be Engineers Day, when all budding engineers can talk about their aspirations to the professionals.

An impressive range of notable speakers will give presentations on a wide variety of aviation topics including Safaya Salter - Schneider Trophy Winner 1989, Alison Hodge - Women’s Engineering Society, Cath Wain - ex Rotol, and Fiona Macaskill – paraglider: World Record holder

The programme of speakers is available on the Jet Age Museum website, https://jetagemuseum.org.

The exhibition is open each day of the weekend between 10am and 4pm.
