PEOPLETON Pony and Dog Show is making a welcome return this weekend.

The event, in its 41st year, is one of the longest running shows in the county.

The show is being held this Sunday, May 19, opening at 10am, and taking place at Lower Norchard Farm.

The event annually raises funds, with this year the Peopleton Village Trust and Cats Protection set to benefit.

Organisers say pony and dog lovers will be in their element, with classes to suit many visitors.

Paul Darby said: "The pony show is aimed at novice riders, to give a traditional fun show with classes such as best turned out pony and rider, best family pony as well as usual pony gymkhana games and fancy dress competitions.

"There are also novice showjumping classes and clear round showjumping running all day.

"The dog show has classes for pedigree breeds as well as novelty classes such as waggiest tail and most handsome dog."

Visitors to the event can also enjoy wonderful homemade cakes and refreshment, available in the main marquee.
