THE British Red Cross is set to benefit from a gala evening at Eastnor Castle.

Hosted by the Dean of Hereford, the Very Rev Michael Tavinor, the event includes a choral concert at the castle's Great Hall and a reception with wine and canapes, hosted by the High Sheriff of Herefordshire, James Hervey-Bathurst.

Tickets for the event on Friday, June 7, are available for £25. As well as the Red Cross, it will also benefit Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust and St John the Baptist Church in the village.

Rev Tavinor said: “I am delighted that the work of the British Red Cross is part of the evening’s focus. How good that this evening is supporting people in need.

“I am delighted to be able to support three excellent causes. Our ancient churches are jewels in the crown and deserve every possible support. Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust does wonderful work in supporting so many key buildings.”

Debra Tritton, president of the local British Red Cross branch, said: “We are proud that the Very Rev Michael Tavinor is hosting the evening and that James Hervey-Bathurst has decided to stage the reception at Eastnor Castle."
