POLICE have warned dog owners to be on their guard after dog biscuits 'covered in a white powder' were found in a park.

Police say they removed the dog biscuits, which had been left near to the zip line in Cripplegate Park, in St John's, this morning.

PCSO Dave Clee said: "At 4.45pm on Saturday 4th May 2019, a report was made about a number of dog biscuits being left near to the zip line in Cripplegate Park, covered in a white powder.

"On Sunday morning we have removed all of the dog biscuits and a large amount of unknown white powder.

"We would advise to take care whilst walking your dogs in this area as, whilst we have done what we can, it is difficult to remove all traces and of course, we cannot be sure whether the substance was harmful or not."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting 510s 040519.
