Herefordshire restaurant Green Cow Kitchens has been shortlisted in two categories in the Made in the Midlands Awards 2019.

It is a finalist in the Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer and the Food & Drink categories, coming up against the region’s elite.

The family-run restaurant, launched by Joe and Keeley Evans in 2012, was renovated from an old pigsty on the Whitbourne Estate.

It showcases the best that the farm can produce. All food is reared on the farm and the tasting menu remains seasonal throughout the year with chefs foraging for wild garlic, hedgerow berries and fruit. What isn’t grown on the farm is sourced from local suppliers.

Unique monthly tasting menus are created with the help of Chef, Patrick McDonald, who previously ran his own Michelin starred restaurant.

Award winners will be announced at a ceremony next week (May 2) May at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham.

Joe Evans, managing director and founder of Green Cow Kitchens, said “Just being shortlisted for these awards is a testament to the hard work our family-run team have put in."

The couple are set to open a luxury events venue later this year. Crumplebury is set to open in October and will consist of a banqueting hall, lounge, bar and 13 luxury bedrooms.

Green Cow Kitchens has recently been shortlisted in the Family Business of the Year category at this year’s Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber Business awards.
