A MAN was arrested in the city centre for breaching a criminal behaviour order (CBO).

Police said they were called to Mealcheapen Street at around 12.15pm on Thursday to reports of concern for the welfare of a 36-year-old man who was subsequently arrested.

Eye witnesses said they heard a man shouting outside Steam coffee shop and Worcester Furniture, in the Corn Market.

An employee of a nearby business, who did not wish to be named, said: “We just saw that there was a couple of police cars.

“It was outside Steam and the furniture shop. That side of the Corn Market. There was somebody being detained. Police were there for about 10 or 15 minutes. It all seemed like it was under control.

“I didn’t actually see much. There was a bit of shouting,” he added.

Another man, from a different business, said he only caught the “tail end” of the incident but agreed there was shouting as the man was taken away in a van.

“We couldn’t see – some police were there, and they had someone but that was it. They were taken off in a police van.

"I don’t know why they were arrested. I think the bloke who was arrested was shouting a lot, but I couldn’t hear what. That was it. I just saw the tail end.”
