A BRA donation bank is set to take up residence in Herefordshire Council's Plough Lane offices.

Chairman of Hereford Council Brian Wilcox has chosen Breast Cancer Haven Hereford as the charity he will champion this year.

The collaboration will see a collection bank installed in the office foyer, where staff and county residents can deposit their old bras to be recycled or reused.

The national charity works with woman living through and after breast cancer treatment, providing a tailored package of emotional, physical and practical support.

Each individual programme of treatment costs £1,000 and is funded entirely by community and corporate support.

Julie Nicholas, corporate fundraiser at Breast Cancer Haven said: "Each kilo of bras collected raises 95p for Breast Cancer Haven.

"It both funds our vital breast cancer support services to the local people of Hereford and also helps those in need further away.

"This project also reduces textiles that end up in landfill."

Further bra banks are located in Hereford's Marks & Spencer's and Sainsbury's stores.
