A POPULAR fish and chip shop in Pershore is re-opening after a brief closure.

The Riverside Fishbar has been closed for the last four weeks while refurbishment work takes place.

Owner Stavros Mouskos said: “We decided the place needed a bit of a re-work and so we have given the place a much-needed make-over because it was looking a bit tired.”

The shop, in High Street, was first opened in 1977 by Stavros’ parents Simon and Anna and has been run by the family ever since.

The renovation included a new eco-friendly frying range and Stavros said it is great to be back.

He said: “We are delighted to be back. The chip shop officially opens a week on Monday and we are really excited.

“We have got staff working for us who have been here for over 25 years and they are vital to the business and for people in Pershore knowing us and who we are.

“My mum is still in and out of the shop helping and my sister Maria is also heavily involved with running the shop day to day.

“It is great having a business like this still going strong, especially with the news we hear about high streets around the country struggling.”
