A WORLD class flamenco guitarist and composer Juan Martín has picked the Huntingdon Hall in Worcester for a solo show.

A spokesman said: "A supreme artist of the flamenco guitar, guitarist and composer Juan Martín plays and introduces his compositions within the forms of the great tradition.

"His exquisite style is enhanced through minimal amplification to capture his very pure sound; just Juan and his sublime guitar to lift and transport you on a musical journey through classic Spain with melodic beauty and rhythmic passion as he plays pieces from his latest solo album."

Juan Martín started learning the guitar at the tender age of six. In his early twenties he moved to Madrid to study under Niño Ricardo and Paco de Lucía. He soon moved to London to develop his career and now divides his time between London and Málaga.

The spokesman said: "Voted one of the top three flamenco guitarists in the world by Guitar Player USA, Juan has toured the world, playing concerts from Shanghai to New York. Critics have compared his compositional talent to that of Albéniz, Turina and Tarrega."

Juan Martín is the author of two flamenco guitar methods, El Arte Flamenco De La Guitarra, issued with cassette tapes and later with vinyl sound sheets, and Solos Flamencos, issued with CDs and DVDs. His books for learning the guitar are now translated into many languages, his original book being referred to as ‘The Bible of Flamenco Guitar.

The spokesman added: "Don’t miss this guitar great, bringing a bit of Spanish flair to Huntingdon Hall this March."

The date for the diary is March 7, at 7.30pm.
