LYE residents reported seeing scenes "like something out of a movie" when a fight reportedly broke out outside a petrol station last night (Sunday February 24).

Emergency services were called to the BP filling station in Pedmore Road just after 8pm.

Members of the public reported a group of Asian men fighting outside the service station and one said on the New Lye Action Group Facebook page: "I was just a bit surprised by it all, it was like something out a movie. I actually turned round to make sure they were fighting before I reported it."

James Clinton, Conservative candidate for Cradley and Wollescote in the forthcoming local election, added: "I've never seen so many police."

Another Facebook poster said it looked like "every copper in the borough" was called out.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said medics were called at 8.02pm and added: "We were called by police who reported a patient having been assaulted after a fight. A single ambulance attended the scene. The patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital."

Kamran Razzaq, Conservative candidate for Lye and Stourbridge North, said: "I can't imagine how scary this must have been."

Another member of the New Lye Action Group Facebook page said of the incident: "It's a fight - they happen all the time around here."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "No-one was seriously injured but two men, aged 22 and 42, were arrested on suspicion of assault. They have been bailed pending further enquiries."
