BROMSGROVE Council is failing to keep the town's streets clean, says one deeply concerned councillor.
Bromsgrove councillor Peter McDonald said that the council has a legal duty to keep communities clear of litter, yet it is failing to do so.
“The litter on our streets is getting worse and something needs to be done," he said.
"None of us likes the sight of litter spoiling the look of where we live. Not only does it not look nice, but it may carry germs.
"Litter has the potential to cause harm to human health, safety, welfare, as well as the environment."
Cllr McDonald added: "Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful Group has shown clearly the need for more litter pickers throughout the district by just how much litter they have collected.
"It is just not good enough; we pay our taxes and should not have to rely on volunteers to carry out the duties of the council.
"The present litter pickers work extremely hard but they can only do so much."
The cllr said he will be putting a motion forward at a council meeting later this month urging the council to get more litter pickers, and keep the town clear of rubbish.
What do you think? Do you think Bromsgrove is dirty and needs more litter pickers? Let us know.
