A BRIERLEY HILL family were left shaken and distressed after a car crashed into a wall in front of their house in a smash and run.

The hit and run is believed to have involved two vehicles, leaving the front of a house wrecked on Norwood Road in Brockmoor on Saturday February 16.

The drivers of the two vehicles, a Transit van and a Mondeo, have not yet been located.

The van was later recovered by police in nearby Kerry Close, and it was discovered to have no tax, MOT or insurance.

Beth Kelly, whose house has been left badly damaged by the smash, was at home with her baby and husband on Saturday afternoon when they heard a 'massive crash'.

She said: "I put our baby in his cot and me and my husband rushed to the window and caught the blue Mondeo driving away with serious damage to the whole right hand side of the car, and then the wheel trim flew off and landed by our house so we presumed it was the car that had hit the house. Then the van followed right behind it and shot up the road.

"We didn’t realise how much damage that had been caused, we were in shock. We are so lucky our car wasn’t damaged as house bricks were forced over our drive and under the car.

Beth added: "We are not sure yet how much it’s going cost, we know that incidents like this are not done on purpose but the fact that the person in the van had no tax, MOT and insurance and drove away from the scene has made us realise that innocent people are getting penalised for doing everything by the book and those who don’t care, are getting away with everything. We are the ones that are left with a bill at the end through no fault of our own."

The mum-of-one also shared her concerns about an increase in frightening incidents in her community.

She said: "Brockmoor has got a lot worse over the years, it’s not the same as it was a few years ago, the crime is rising very fast at the moment."

Police have confirmed they were called to address at 1.25pm on Saturday.
