A KIND-hearted shop worker from Kidderminster has shaved off his long hair after two years to be made into a wig for a child with cancer.

Courtney Richards braved the shave at Stourport's Tesco supermarket, where he works, in memory of his dad Grant who died in 2017 after a short battle with lung and liver cancer.

The 25-year-old previously told The Shuttle: "His sad passing devastated our family so I would like to raise as much money for Cancer Research as possible for their fight against this terrible disease.

"Since this disease has affected us, we’ve come to realise how many others are affected by cancer."

Courtney raised more than £2,000 for Cancer Research, far surpassing his fundraising goal, and donated his 30-centimetre-long ponytail to the Little Princess Trust.

"It was brilliant," he said. "We did it right at the front of the store and had quite a big crowd come to watch.

"There was a lot of foot traffic so lots of people dropping money into the bucket, but we passed the goal with online donations alone."
