As the scheduled speaker was unavailable on January 17th we had the surprise appearance of Ann Molloy who last entertained us four years ago.

She is a teacher of belly dancing and explained the background to the art in countries such as Egypt, Turkey and Lebanon.

It greatly aids fitness and posture, the basis being the isolation of hips, shoulders etc. to achieve the movements which comprise the technique of the art.

As well as being an engaging speaker, Ann demonstrated several dances with veils and the artistry was stunning.

In thanking her, our President summarised her act as bringing some exotic warmth to a cold winter’s day. We meet at 10am every Thursday at The Boathouse, Evesham Rowing Club.

Our speaker on January 24 will be Howard Robinson on The History of Bellringing and on January 31 David Howe’s subject is Prime Ministers of Great Britain. Full details can be found on our website www.eveshamprobus.co.uk
