AN EVENT was hosted by Leominster based Services for Independent Living to raise awareness of the realities of working in adult social care.

Guests including councillors and mayors from Herefordshire's market towns met staff responsible for delivering support both in the home and also to those in the county who receive direct payments at the 'behind the scenes' event.

Attendees heard from Herefordshire Council's Director for Adults and Wellbeing, Stephen Vickers, who spoke on the future of adult social care in the county and company CEO Euan McPherson, who explained how changes to working practice over recent years have helped the award-winning charitable company to become individual care provider of choice in the county.

"We are most willing to come and address any organisations or groups who would like to find out more about social care and the work we do," said Mr McPherson.
