A NEW leader of the 1,200 scouts, cubs and beavers in Worcester has been appointed.

Clare Dimmick will take on the role as district commissioner for Worcester after previously being a beaver leader with 8th Worcester in Claines and a cub leader at the 5th Worcester Sea Scouts. She was appointed by Robert Sidley, county commissioner from Hereford and Worcester Scouts.

Clare Dimmick said: “I’ve been preparing for my new role visiting and speaking to leaders and young people across the city. I have seen the amazing scouting that is going on in Worcester.

“I’m really looking forward to developing the Scouting programme and the offer to our local community not only to the volunteers, our Scout Groups but ultimately all the young people that we inspire, develop and create those amazing experiences and skills for. Going forward there are several exciting challenges and developments, new projects - not to mention all the everyday adventures and jobs that need to be carried out.”

The hunt is also on for adults to help support scouting in Dines Green, Ronkswood, Whittington and Norton, where there are plans over the next three years to open more Scout groups and develop existing groups.

No prior experience is required.
