SIR – Where I live the people in the street seem to have a competition over who has the biggest wreath hanging on their front door.
Forgive me, I thought wreaths were for funerals, when someone died, not to rejoice a birth such as Jesus Christ’s.
That is what Christmas is about, not hanging wreaths and meaningless rubbish.
I daresay many of the children have no idea about Christmas and Christ’s birthday and people getting into debt to buy senseless rubbish. Nothing to do with the meaning of Christmas.
Did the wreath idea come from America? Just like the schools prom fiasco and Halloween. Can’t we have our own ideas instead?
It seems we always follows America – so sad.
