A NEW outdoor gym with a companion app is coming to Sanders Park.

Contractors for Bromsgrove District Council started work to bring the 13-station ‘Kompan’ fitness area to the park on Monday as the district council’s latest improvement to parks and open spaces.

Residents backed the idea at the park’s 50th anniversary celebrations in September and it is now set to be installed near the skate park by the top of the newly-landscaped brook.

It will include a crosstrainer, push up bars, cycle trainer, double chest press, parallel bars, magnetic bell weights, more and equipment instructions, all in a 14 metre circle.

The works are expected to take around two weeks.

Cllr Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for leisure services, said: “People have been asking us about having outdoor gym equipment in Sanders Park and we’re delighted to provide it.

"It’s good to see this come to fruition so quickly, and thanks to everyone who gave us their feedback on the proposals at the 50th birthday bash in the summer.

“You can even get an app for your phone if you want to see animations that show you the ropes on the equipment, or help to track your progress.”
