A MAN from Newent was arrested after police were called to a property in Coleford.

Police got a call at 11.25pm on Thursday from a Coleford resident who had seen suspicious activity in a back garden.

The man, aged 28, was later arrested on suspicion of burglary and going equipped. He remains in custody at this time.

Sergeant Mark Burns said: “This is a fantastic example of teams working together following the joint effort by the Forest Neighbourhood officers and Force Response officers.

“The area was quickly cordoned off and although the suspect attempted to flee one of our officers located the male who was found to be in possession of gloves, a mask and torch.

“A vehicle which was located in the area has been seized as it is believed to have been used in criminal activity.

“We have had a number of burglaries in the area recently and we would urge people to remain vigilant and always call 999 if offenders are present.”
