SINGERS from Bromsgrove's Got 2 Sing choir collected more than 100 bras for Worcestershire's Breast Unit Haven and raised £11,000 for charity.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a call went out to choir members to donate their new or unwanted bras to be exchanged for funds to improve the quality of life for people affected by breast cancer.

Lexi Cragie, fundraising manager for the Breast Unit Haven, said: "It’s fantastic to see how many bras Got 2 Sing have been able to collect.

"Every bra counts – we receive 70p per kilogram of bras which soon adds up – especially as most women have a couple of bras they no longer wear stuffed at the back of their wardrobe.

"Thank you for your incredible support – we are a local breast cancer charity and the money raised will go towards supporting the women and men of Worcestershire with their breast care needs."

Got 2 Sing's October fundraising ended with a fashion show at the Chateau Impney on October 24 for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.

Cancer survivors graced the catwalk as choir members performed uplifting songs from the likes of George Ezra and the Kings of Leon.

The event raised more than £11,000 for charity.

Got 2 Sing leader Cathy Hart said: "Breast cancer awareness means a great deal to us at Got 2 Sing.

"We have heard many personal stories from members about their experience of breast cancer and how joining a choir and singing has brightened up many a dark day and certainly lifted their spirits. So it was important that we honoured national Breast Cancer Awareness Month in whatever way we could.

"We are also supporting the Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer charity at our next concert at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham in August 2019 so we are delighted that the fashion show has not only raised awareness but raised such a fantastic sum of money for the charity.”

Got 2 Sing meets every Thursday at 7.30pm at St John's Middle School. Visit got2sing.co.uk for more information.
