A RESTAURANT owner has donated food to the homeless to push for a new project to help the community.

Mutaher Shah, owner of Pepe’s Piri Piri, in Lowesmoor, distributed chicken and rice with employee, Muhammed Noamaan, at Worcester Street Café during the evening of Tuesday.

Mr Shah said: “The evening went wonderful. Everyone was so grateful to have received food from us. They were even coming in for seconds, they loved it. The joy on their faces was so special.

“I arranged cooked rice and grilled chicken for the homeless community. We met and fed over 40 people on the night, which was wonderful. We still had plenty of rice and chicken left at the end of the night.

“As I am new to the area I have done my research and along the way I discovered Worcester Street Café who help the homeless by providing food.

“The Worcester Street Cafe volunteers are a credit to the city and always willing to help.

“It is upsetting to see people that are homeless with nothing but only a few bags as personal belongings.

“We as people forget and ignore the people on the streets. Each person has a story as to why they got on the streets. We live in a modernised society, but everyone dismisses the homeless and do not offer any help.

“We all live in a warm home, have food on the table, have clothes to live in and so on and we take it for granted.

“It is my mission to help these vulnerable people and to acknowledge them. We want to raise awareness in the city and tackle the issue by providing support and offering them food.

“Our message is simple. We care about humanity and believe in fairness among the people, no matter what religion they are from.”

Mr Shah has previously told the Worcester News that he hopes to get more people together in the community to offer help to people on the streets.
