RESIDENTS at a Bromsgrove care home took a trip down memory lane with a 1940s-themed event.

The team at Care UK's Chandler Court in Recreation Road organised a daytrip to Perry Manor care home in Worcester for a three-course ration book meal and dance.

As a tribute to the Battle of Britain, residents and their families spent the afternoon dancing to vintage songs from The Poppy Sisters.

Dennis Norton, owner of Bromsgrove's Norton Collection Museum, also gave a historical talk on the wartime artefacts at his museum.

Joanne Gill, home manager at Chandler Court, said: "We strongly believe in having an activity-based approach to care and are always looking to plan interesting and exciting activities for residents.

"We were delighted to arrange a special 1940s day for the residents here and guests from Perry Manor.

“The themed day was a great opportunity for residents to reminisce and talk about growing up in the 1940s, which can be therapeutic for older people, especially those living with dementia.”
