A NURSE and a bystander tried to resuscitate a man in cardiac arrest yesterday afternoon in Ross-on-Wye.

The ambulance service was called to Broad Street just before 4pm to the King Charles II pub.

Ambulance crews took over resuscitation efforts but the patient was declared dead a short time later at the scene.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a Midlands Air Ambulance attended.

The pub was closed for the rest of the day.

A post on the pub's Facebook page yesterday said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be closed this evening.

"Please do not message team members asking for details as they've had a pretty rough day.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused but we hope to be open tomorrow from 12."

Police said just before 4pm they received a report of a concern for safety, after a man had collapsed at a premises on Broad Street, Ross on Wye.

Despite the best efforts of members of the public and paramedics, the man sadly died.

Police are treating his death as unexplained, but it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
