FIRE and ambulance crews battled against the fading light to rescue a woman who had fallen on the Malvern Hills.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Crews and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) were called at 3.18pm on Tuesday to reports of a woman, believed to be in her 50s, who had fallen high on the hills.
WMAS sent a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance Crew from Strensham, also in a rapid response vehicle, to the scene.
The woman was on the west side of the Herefordshire Beacon, near the Giants Cave. She was treated for back and chest pain, brought down to safety and taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Firefighter Steve Fox posted pictures of the rescue on his Twitter account, writing: "Currently deploying Argocat (rescue vehicle) with rescue equipment for casualty evacuation from the hills, losing light."
