A CHARITY that supports local families has delivered presents to more than 40 children after a successful Christmas Gift Appeal.

Home-Start Malvern Hills ran the campaign during the first fortnight of December with the support of local businesses.

Over that period visitors to Just So and Toy Corner, in Barnards Green, were greeted by small Christmas trees decorated with special gift tags.

Each tag carried the name and age of a child supported by Home-Start, helping people to choose an appropriate gift.

By the time the campaign finished at the Barnards Green Christmas Extravaganza a gift had been purchased to match every single tag.

The presents were transported to the charity’s offices in Upper Chase Road for wrapping and they have been delivered this week by office staff and volunteers during their regular visits to families.

Co-ordinator Jan Redman said: “This was the fourth time we’ve run the appeal and as ever the response was fantastic. We want to thank our local businesses for supporting us and everyone who purchased a gift for one of our children for their generosity.”

Home-Start Malvern Hills is a voluntary organisation providing support, friendship and practical help for families with children under the age of five.

It is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and over the past decade has supported more than 500 families with the help of 212 volunteers.
