THE latest album, The Spirit, by Malvern singer Clive John has been nominated for the Album of the year awards at the British Country Music Awards 2011.

And Clive will be travelling down to the British Airways Concorde Club in Middlesex on Sunday, October 23, to hear if his record has scooped the top honour.

He said: "It's a great honour to be nominated, but I'm not sure whether it'll win the prize. I'm not sure it will be country enough for the judges."

But whether or not the album wins, Clive will be coming back to Malvern with an award, since its title song has been named song of the year by the Hot Disc independent country music chart.

The song was number one in Hot Disc's British and Irish chart for eight weeks and in the rest of the world chart for four weeks.
