COLWALL Village Society will unveil a plaque to famous First World War cartoonist Bruce Bairnsfather later this month.
Bairnsfather, creator of ‘Old Bill’, was the most well-known cartoonist of that era and lived in Colwall towards the end of his life, in the 1950s.
While a member of the local Royal British Legion club he drew some cartoons on the doors of the bar, and these still exist today, albeit now safely framed.
The unveiling takes place at the legion club, in Crescent Road, at 12.30pm on Saturday, September 24.
