CHILDREN from Hanley Castle CE Primary School enjoyed a trip to remember thanks to their hard work.

The reception class visited Holy Austin Caves at Kinver Edge on Thursday, February 10 after suggesting and planning the project themselves.

They were involved in everything from writing letters to the headteacher asking for permission to go, to speaking to the National Trust to organise the visit, designing routes for the bus to travel and filling in risk assessment forms.

Reception class teacher Paul Bundy said: "My class have been truly wonderful and this has been a very special trip. They have taken the lead in this whole project and demonstrated that no matter how young you are, if you are given the right support you can achieve great things."

The Caves do not open until March but the National Trust opened the caves especially for the trip as they were impressed by the children's involvement in the project.
