BUSINESS leaders visited Malvern IT and software company Borwell Ltd to hear about the benefits of apprenticeship schemes.
Young recruits Bradley Smith, 18, and Patrick Graham, 19, showcased their skills to about 50 delegates from employers across the Midlands during a ‘Good for Business’ event organised as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Borwell director Andrea Borwell-Fox is a firm supporter of apprenticeship schemes.
“We advertised a vacancy for one IT apprentice last summer and we were really impressed with the number and quality of applicants,” she said. “Bradley and Patrick interviewed exceptionally well. We couldn’t decide between them as their skills and experience were very similar, so we hired them both.
“They are already working incredibly hard, and directly contributing to customer projects. As an alternative to traditional graduate recruitment, I would advise any business considering taking on staff to look at the National Apprenticeship scheme.”
