MALVERN Town Council is to call on the district council to cut charges at a Barnards Green car park to help solve problems with on-street parking.
The call came from coun Caroline Bovey, who wants the charges in the Geraldine Road car park to be waived entirely, as at Newtown Road, or at least to be amended so the first hour is free.
Her resolution calls for the town council to write to MHDC asking them to review charging at the car park.
She said: "This is something that local people and traders want. The car park is under-used because people aren't going to pay the full price when they just want to pop into the shops for a few minutes.
"If the car park was free, people could park there instead of pulling up by the side of the road, which causes congestion."
Coun Rupert Parsons said: "Even half an hour of free parking would be a help."
