CHAIRMAN John Jordan is looking to involve more groups and organisations under the banner of Malvern on Bloom.

As the group continues work on its 2011 campaign, Mr Jordan wants to get across that, while hanging baskets and floral displays are an important part of In Bloom, there is much more involved besides.

“There is a lot of work carried out by different sections of the community which benefits the environment and helps to make the Malvern area welcoming and attractive,” he explained.

He gave the example of the Malvern Community Forest Group, which is currently engaged in a programme of coppicing, woodland regeneration, and a birdbox sponsorship scheme at the Community Woodland in Townsend Way.

“What they are doing is absolutely relevant to what we are trying to achieve. We are all working to the same end,” he added.

Other groups that have worked alongside Malvern in Bloom include the charity Hands and the Hope initiative.

Mr Jordan is currently talking to churches and youth groups in the area with the aim of getting them involved in this summer’s campaign.
