AN Upton care home is celebrating after placing second in a national cake competition.
Residents and staff at Beechwood were delighted to discover that they had finished runners-up in the annual bake off organised by Sanctuary Care.
Judging took place last week at Sanctuary Care’s Worcester office, and Ann Thomas - who created Beechwood’s entry - was awarded £150 for the home to spend.
She said: “This is the first time I have entered the competition and I didn’t know what to expect. When they told me I had won it was really exciting and I was absolutely over the moon – I was delighted.”
The cake is now being put in a Christmas raffle to raise more money for the home.
