CHILDREN at Castlemorton Primary School were given a taste of life as an evacuee this week.
Pupils from year five and six took part in the school’s evacuee day on Tuesday (December 14) for their Second World War project.
Each child took on the identity of a child evacuee from London and members of the local community selected who they would take home under the watchful eye of the billeting officer.
Head teacher Janet Adsett said it was a “fantastic” day for the children.
She said: “They were all given an identity, they were coming from London on the train and walked to the village hall. The poor little girl with nits had to scratch and a little boy was left behind.”
The children brought authentic lunches and made rock cakes from rationed supplies and had a cup of tea before spending the morning with their adoptive parents.
They spent the afternoon looking at Second World War artefacts from Hartlebury Museum.
