A FIRE engine called out to a car crash on an icy morning this week itself became involved in the collision.
The call came at about 8.40am on Monday, December 6. A silver Citroen Xsara and a red Rover had collided on Jamaica Road.
The original collision took place near the junction of Jamaica Road and Greenfields Road. As the Scania fire engine slowly approached the scene from the Greenfields Road direction, due to the poor weather conditions it was itself in collision with one of the two vehicles.
Fire service press officer Julie Wedgbury said: "There were no injuries and only minimal damage caused to the fire engine and the car involved.
"The fire crew that attended continued to make safe the two vehicles involved in the original collision. An internal investigation into the secondary collision is now under way."
