TWO local people have recently returned from a trip to Africa where they witnessed first-hand the work of development charity Send a Cow.

Retired GP Jenny Houghton, from Colwall, and agricultural economist Mary Stafford, from Powick, travelled to Kenya with the charity, which provides training, livestock and seeds to help families grow food and sell produce.

Mrs Stafford said: “Seeing Send a Cow’s work in action was a real eye opener and it hit home that although times are tough in the UK we must still remember those families in need overseas.”

And Mrs Houghton added: “Seeing what our help and support has done for poor families in Kenya made me realise that with help and training from Send a Cow people really are leaving poverty for good and can look forward to three meals a day, money in their pockets and brighter futures.”

People can support Send a Cow by selecting items from its Christmas gift catalogue - which includes potentially life-altering items including chickens, cows seeds and trees for poor families in Africa.
