Morgan Motor Company is staying tight-lipped about plans to resurrect a three-wheeler model after news leaked out to a national newspaper.

The Malvern company, which has recently celebrated its centenary, had planned to unveil the new model in November to eager enthusiasts around the world.

But a recent meeting of the Morgan Three Wheeler Club brought long-awaited news from Jill Price, sister of Morgan managing director Charles Morgan.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Monday (October 4) that she had described the new model as “beautiful” and that she already had a silver and blue example on order.

The sports car company, which has a factory, show room and visitor centre in Pickersleigh Road, Malvern Link, produced three-wheeler cars up until 1952 when it began focusing its attention on four-wheelers to reflect the changing demands of the buying public.

Among the fans of the three-wheeled designs were motor-racing legend Sir Stirling Moss.

In 2009 Morgan Motor Company sold a license to produce the cars to American engineer Pete Larsen, leading to the creation of the Liberty Ace - which uses a Harley Davidson engine.

Jayne Jones, spokesman for the company, said the new model was undergoing “rigorous testing” ahead of its launch next month. She denied claims in the Telegraph that the new model would have a £46,000 price tag.
