A WEST Malvern primary School was “delighted” to be awarded an Artmark Gold for its commitment to arts education.
Karen Surrall, headteacher of St James’ CE Primary, said: “This is a nationally accredited award and follows a rigorous assessment procedure. It is difficult for small school like ours to achieve. We have to meet stringent requirements for the number of after school clubs that we run as well as ensuring that the children receive a high number of lessons right across the arts. We also have to have partnerships with local artists.”
To celebrate the achievement the school held a “Gold Day” on Friday (July 2) where they donned their brightest gold clothes.
