THE sun shone down on Saturday (July 10) as a crowd of music fans of all ages enjoyed this year's West Fest.

The annual festival, held on West Malvern's playing field, attracted a steady stream of visitors from the moment it opened at noon until the final acts at 10pm.

They enjoyed acts spanning a wide variety of genres, from traditional folk to classic rock and jazz rock.

Alan Hoida, a member of the organising committee, said: "It was a really good West Fest, one of the best we've ever done. The weather was just right, and we had a great crowd, with families and people of all ages just enjoying it. The performers were really good as well, and everyone had a great time."

The festival is held each year to raise money for good causes within West Malvern. "It's too early to say how much we've raised, but we'll definitely have money to give out this year, unlike last year when we only managed to cover our costs," he said. Last year's event was marred by heavy raid during the evening, which kept crowds away.

And Mr Hoida wants to say a special thank you to all the acts, who perform for free, and the teams of volunteers who make West Fest happen.

He said: "No-one gets paid. All the stewards and the people who pick up litter are all volunteers and without them. there wouldn't be a festival. We can't thank them enough."
