ALFRICK and Lulsley residents are set to get their first glimpse of the results of a £350,000 refurbishment of their village hall.

The new-look hall will be officially opened at 2pm tomorrow (Saturday, July 17) by new local MP Harriett Baldwin. To mark the occasion there will be a pig roast, bar and live music from the Worcester Concert Brass Band.

Funding from the work has come from a £290,000 Big Lottery grant and £15,000 from ‘Welcome to our Future’, with the balance being met by hall funds, local fund-raising and donations.

The hall is re-opening with new committee rooms, toilets, disabled facilities and changing and shower room, as well as a completely re-fitted kitchen.

It also boasts new windows and doors throughout, new tables and chairs and a new heating system.

The hall has been closed for almost 12 months while Speller Metcalfe has carried out the refurbishment and committee member David Hughes is delighted to see it ready to open.

“It really makes a significant difference to the facilities available in the village,” he said. “This is a very active community and the hall is well used. Now we have got a fantastic building that is more flexible and fit for the future. I think everybody is very pleased with the work.”

Mr Hughes hopes as many people as possible will attend tomorrow’s opening celebrations and see exactly what the hall has to offer.

Anyone who would like to hire the fully-licensed hall for their clubs, societies or functions should call Mr Hughes on 01886 833049.
