STAFF at Morrisons supermarket will be limbering up to beat diabetes with a charity walk over the Malvern Hills in May.

They were due to be joined at the retail park store by a Diabetes UK roadshow today offering shoppers the chance to get tested for the condition.

The pink roadshow van will also be on hand tomorrow(Friday), diagnosing risk and offering advice to visitors between 9am and 5pm.

The walk, organised by Malvern Hills Lions Club, will raise money for the national charity, which offers support, advice and funds research, as well as a host of local groups and charities.

Lions member Bob Appleby said: “The walk has been going for 35-years and we choose a different charity each year. There’s a lot of concern about diabetes and we thought we would raise the awareness by linking to this particular organisation.”

Walkers will be invited to assemble at the Brown Gate car park of the Three Counties Showground at 9am on Sunday, May 16.

They will then be taken by mini-bus to the starting point, by British Camp, and will have the option of choosing between a four or eight mile walk which will take in the Wyche Cutting and end at West Malvern’s Tank Quarry.

Sponsorship money generated by walkers will be split equally between Diabetes UK and Malvern Hills Lions Club.
