TWO local businesses are teaming up to promote good health through a modern day take on the famous Malvern Water Cure.

Pete Browne, of Pepper and Oz, and Rhys Humm, of The Holywell Water Company, are running a month-long project studying the effects of good hydration on health.

For the next month whenever customers purchase a bottle of wine at Pepper and Oz they will be offered a free bottle of Holywell Water, in return for filling in a questionnaire about the benefits of having the water to accompany their meal.

Each participant will be entered into a free prize draw for a case of Holywell Spring Water and first edition presentation pack which will be announced, along with the results, at the end of trial, which runs until Sunday, May 9.

“We feel it is very important to be well hydrated in day-to-day life, and certainly to enjoy good food and wine,” said Mr Browne. “People spend a lot of money on headache tablets when a lot of the time the problems could be solved simply by drinking enough water. This is a great opportunity to try and encourage people to drink more water and hopefully discover that they feel in better health and able to enjoy things more.”

Mr Humm is pleased at the prospect of coupling local people with their local heritage.

“I’m delighted to involve the Holywell Water Company in this exciting initiative,” he said. “It’s a colourful method of pitting Malvern’s rich spa town history into the 21st Century medical world.”

Dr John Harcup, Chairman of Malvern Spa Association, has wished Mr Humm and Mr Browne success with the project.

“I think it is an excellent idea to counter the diuretic effects of alcohol and coffee with large amounts of pure water,” he said.
