REGIONAL minister for the West Midlands Ian Austin dropped by at Malvern Hills Science Park on Friday (March 13) to find out how high-tech industry offered opportunities to local people.

He visited ROAR Forensics, Goodrich ISR and Coated Conductor Cylinders, and spoke with representatives from Worcestershire County and Malvern Hills District councils.

Manager of the science park Nigel Shaw said: “We were delighted to give the minister a taste of the diversity and skill of the companies on the science park. He left very impressed with the park’s focus on science and technology companies.”

Mr Austin MP was the guest of Worcestershire County Council and used his visit to understand what actions were being taken to deliver the aspiration of the Worcestershire Economic Strategy to provide a “strong sustainable economy based on higher value, technology led businesses with opportunities for all residents.”

He said: "In my capacity as regional minister it has been an ideal opportunity to see all those specialisms brought together and working so well in one West Midlands location."
