A girls football team in Malvern has hit the back of the net by securing a national sponsor ahead of its first season in a competitive league.
Newtown Sports FC Under 10s Girls have a new kit courtesy of waste management firm CSG.
The girls are gearing up for their debut campaign in the Mercian Junior Football League, which kicks off in September.
The £450 of funding comes through CSG’s Community Chest initiative, which supports good causes close to its 32 locations across the country.
The team has been training together regularly and managers Samantha Hayes-Wilson and Julie Hooper thanked CSG for its support.
Samantha said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this financial support from CSG, which has allowed us to buy brand new kit for our under-10s for the 2023-24 season.
“I know the girls will be very proud to wear their CSG-branded shirts as they begin the exciting challenge of competitive football.
“Newtown Sports FC is a successful club which has been running for almost 40 years. We set up the girls teams as we didn’t believe there were enough opportunities for females in the local area.
“It has been a huge success with around 60 female players and one team already playing in the league, and a further three more teams joining the league in September.

“It’s fantastic to see a significant company like CSG getting involved in grassroots football and supporting our girls like this.”
CSG is a waste specialist, helping households and organisations nationwide by offering a complete variety of services including septic tank emptying and treatment, as well as recovery and disposal of specialist waste such as chemicals and oil.
Its Worcester facility, on Stanier Road, opened in 2016 and specialises in oily wastes and non-hazardous aqueous wastes for treatment and recovery.
