The Boston Marathon returned to its traditional April date for the first time in three years on Easter Monday with the fastest field in the race’s history, boasting a star-studded slate of previous champions and Olympic medallists.

Two runners from the Malvern Joggers and Malvern Buzzards clubs took part in the famous event last weekend.

Dave Lawrence (pictured) of the Buzzards finished in a brilliant time of 2:54:43 as he placed inside the top 10% of finishers.

He crossed in 2106th position out of 24,819 runners on what was the 126th edition of the marathon.

The other Malvern runner was was Shaun Green from The Malvern Joggers Running club.

Fresh off the back of his Brighton Marathon performance the weekend before, Green crossed the line with a time of 3:05:00.

After the run, he said: “What an unbelievable day.

“Didn’t get the PB I hoped for in this training block (which went well as my other distance times came down!) but this was by far my favourite and most enjoyable race ever.

“The crowds were staggering, weather was great and lots of laughs and cheers on the way. A truly memorable experience which I will take with me forever. “

“Legs just said no today, but I didn’t blow out and it made me able to absorb the atmosphere with nice pacing.

“Back to back Marathons at 3.05 is something I’m super proud of.”
