A KILLER from Worcester who kicked a man to death has appeared in court again - for making threats to kill.

Karl Hardwick appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday facing fresh offences, just four months after a judge told him ‘don’t come back!’

Recorder Christopher Millington QC made the comment in February this year as he sentenced Hardwick to a community order following a series of bizarre and violent episodes in Worcester and Kidderminster.

At the time the convicted killer replied: “Yeah, I know. I’m done with it.”

However, the 38-year-old appeared again in the crown court over videolink this week having indicated guilty pleas to two counts of making threats to kill and two of common assault when he appeared before magistrates.

Because he did not have legal representation, the case was adjourned for three weeks by Judge Nicolas Cartwright so Hardwick could speak to the solicitor who has represented him on previous occasions, Sam Lamsdale.

We reported in February how Hardwick’s sentence meant he walked out of prison where he was a remand prisoner and went to live with his dad in Dines Green.

Hardwick cut grass with scissors after holding them to his face, demanded a woman kiss his feet and give him drugs while manhandling her and pulling her hair out in clumps, smashed up a hostel room and smeared excrement on the walls of his Worcester prison cell.

Hardwick, who has mental health issues but is now taking medication, was given a community order and made subject to a criminal behaviour order by Recorder Millington.

After serving 10 months on remand, the sentence meant he was given his freedom and the court was told he would now be staying with his dad, Michael Hardwick, at Hawkins Close.

Hardwick kicked dad-of-four Thomas O’Brien to death in Worcester when the defendant was 17 outside St Paul’s Hostel in Worcester which resulted in an eight year custodial sentence for manslaughter in 2000.
