MALVERN Wells residents have formed a liaison group to deal with the prospect of a home for mental patients in the village.
Private health care firm Partnerships in Care (PiC) is planning to site the home at Sherborne Tower, Hanley Road, a former nursing home.
At a public meeting at the end of May, worried residents spoke out about their fears for the site, intended as a non-secure unit for men with mental health problems.
PiC executives said they would welcome the formation of a liaison group, which they said had been done at other sites.
At a second meeting last Wednesday, attended by about 40 people, the group was set up, comprising two parish councilllors, Peter Buchanan and Helen Burridge, and a number of members of the public.
"It's a group of local residents, not a committeee of the parish council," said Coun Buchanan.
